| Good point mentioning Ron Pattinson. When he was in Seattle last year, I met him at Reuben's, and we went down to Maritime Pacific and its Jolly Roger pub. There was a CC strong IPA ("IIPA") on, and Ron ordered one. He was enthralled. We went to Machine House later on and he enjoyed a pint there too, but that strong CC IPA was clearly something that put a big smile on his face. So, there is decent domestically-brewed CC ale in the Pacific Northwest, but like the rest of the USA, up until the 1980s at best, and more likely the 1990s, all beer on tap was keg whether ale or lager, and CC was an alien concept requiring a trip to the UK to experience. |
