| Sounds like a great life, Mark! Unfortunately, I've found that, in recent years, during the spring/summer, at no time of the day is Schlenkerla free of incessant crowds of sightseers. We are all (mostly) tourists in Bamberg and I can have no objection to other tourists queing at the Ausschank, buying a Seidla and sitting down in the Schwemm to enjoy the experience - that's what we all like to do. But it's the hordes of camera toting individuals who wander in to take photo's, with no intention of buying a drink, that really spoil the experience. I blame Viking Cruises and their ilk because, when one of their ships anchors up, you are talking about hundreds of people hitting the streets. Sadly, Bamberg is becoming a victim of its own publicity - but I still love it! |
