OT: craft breweries in Ireland |

| Be careful with defining it! There are "craft" brewers in the UK producing proper cask beer. There is an Oxford English Dictionary definition somewhere, FWIW. Something like "beer with a particular character". Anyway. Contrast the Irish figures with Oregon's: 22% of all beer consumed in Oregon is brewed in the state, and all the breweries in the state are some sort of brewpub, microbrewery, or microbrewery-grown-large. There are a couple that have been bought up by the gigamacroglobalbreweries, but the fact is, none of it is the Budweiser-Coors-Miller sort of sex-in-a-canoe American beer of the 70's. Something like 4 million people in the state, maybe 3 million. I don't really have a point other than, watch out, Guinness! (?) |
