Landbier isn't an official notation. In Bamberg You distinguish beetween beers from the city and beers form Bamberg county (Landkreis Bamberg). Keesmann, Mahrs etc. are beers from the city Bamberg. Huppendorfer, Mönchsambach, Griess etc. "Landbier". http://www.landkreis-bamberg.de/ Also at Nuremberg. The "Landbierparadies" (Landbier paradise) is an enterprise with pubs and shops, in which You can get beers form the surrounding of Nuremberg (and not Tucher etc. from the city of Nuremberg). http://www.landbierparadies.com/ Because of the good image of Landbier (in the sense of original, natural etc.) nowadays some great breweries are using this unprotected name for their products, p.e. Mönchshof Landbier from the Kulmbacher Brewery (part of the BBI at Muenchen with Paulaner etc., with a 49.9% ownership by Heineken). In the most cases these beers are not totally filtered, sparse hop, few carbonated, good drinkable at sommer.
