I meant that I've had trouble getting absolute confirmation of how the system works: Can I call the AST to collect me at the bus stop in S'limbach at 20:30 on a Sunday, for example? It's just not exactly clear if one can be collected at ANY bus stop, or only the locations shown by red dots at the VGN map: http://www.vgn.de/media/static/forchheim.pdf (Willersdorf & Hallerndorf, but not Stiebarlimbach) Otherwise, it's pretty clear. You can call the number and order a taxi to pick you up at a bus stop, if your desired collection time falls outside the scheduled bus times, but also within the prescribed AST times as shown here: http://www.vgn.de/00000000-2306-1100-3000-00E07D97B84E (don't know if that link is a permanent one) You have to have a valid VGN ticket (or Bayern ticket?), and then you'll pay a surcharge based on where the collection and drop-off points are. Or, it looks like you can buy a ticket in the taxi. (And a tip of one or two € would be nice, of course!) http://www.vgn.de/00000000-2316-1100-3000-00E07D97B84E is the information about how it works, including the times during which you can call--hey, I can call now. Hold on...okay. Der Kollege am Telefon was very clear and helpful. (09191 86161) You have to call within these times: Mo-Do von 18.00 – 21.45 Uhr Fr von 18.00 – 00.45 Uhr Sa von 13.30 – 00.45 Uhr So+Feiertage von 13.30 – 21.45 Uhr Indeed the AST will collect in Stiebarlimbach; the map above is a very rough approximation. And yes, it is as simple as it sounds: If you're at Roppelt's Keller at on a Sunday evening, you can call and order a collection at the bus stop with an hour's notice. And you can pay the whole fee in the taxi; you needn't already have a ticket. I forgot to ask about calling in English though...I can't believe this should be a problem. And again, the people at the Keller(s) would certainly help! http://www.franconiabeerguide.com/discussdethist.asp?IDKEY=ZZIQ02010101010101020101010201 has a link to an English (!) explanation of the Forchheimer AST service. Okay, I'll have to update the "How to get there" wiki thingy with this.
