I'd be pretty amazed to see 5.3% ABV from an OG of 1042. Try this instead: http://www.realbeer.com/hops/kcalc_js.html Looks more like 4.7% ABV, which is in line with expectations for a beer with a pretty dry finish. However, you'll need some highly attenuating yeast to get the FG down to 1006. You're more likely to finish in the 1010 range, giving 4.16% ABV, again in line with expectations for a typical beer starting at 1042 with a less dry finish but more body. Mind you, a dry finish might be just what you want, as that means little residual sugar. If that's the case, sake (as in the Japanese rice-based beverage) yeast is highly attenuating, and will give you an austere, bone-dry finish from an OG of 1042.
