Aschermittwoch...Ash Wednesday

Yeah, I dunno. It's not like the Märzen is *that* dry or something, nor *that* much smokier, that it would be a palate deadener. Earlier in the day, even before I got to Schlenkerla, I was wondering about the sweetness.

I guess I used to think of the Fastenbier as just another Festbier that happens to be sweeter than some, or even many. But now I wonder, if it's not purposely designed to be sweet along the lines of how that would make it more satisfying for people who are actually fasting. Anyone?
