Indeed. For Franconians, the Steinkrug seems to be of primary importance when drinking outside for the obvious reasons.

One peculiarity of Erlangen's Kitzmann Brauschänke is, they use different glassware for different beers, to good effect. But if you order a small size (25 cl?), it will be served in a small Steinkrug, even Pils. Stupid.

Of course, if you order a Schnitt, then it will come in the correct glass.
