| J. arrived fresh from the local supermarket with a present: a bottle of Blue Moon - North American Craft Beer (don't foam at the mouth, Nick, just quoting what it says on the bottle). There was a reason for this sudden upsurge of generosity: 'Blue Moon' - the song - is the 'anthem' of my soceer team, the blues of Manchester, who were playing arch rivals United in a derby match that night. 'You can enjoy that while watching the match' she said. Well, that was forgotten in the tension of events - well, not so tense because City ran out winners fairly easily, so enjoyment of said bottle was delayed until full time. The bottle label states: 'A refreshing, unfiltered wheat beer brewed an spiced in the Belgian tradition' (quite apt because our Captain is also Captain of the Belgian national team). It also contains oats ('for creaminess') and is 'spiced with the perfect combination of orange peel and coriander'. Not quite sure who decided that orange peel and coriander are the perfect combination for beer and, in truth, it didn't really taste like any Belgian beer that I can recall. But it was quite nice, even though it was imported by Coors. |
