Auf dem Keller...Lieberth's Opening Hours

One chap I chatted up at Lieberth (the only other guy there for a while) turned out to be a fellow homebrewer. He didn't agree that the Kellerbier there is utterly bland (I could manage a Seidla, but that was partly because I was pretty thirsty, after a sweaty 75 minute bike tour), in fact, he wants as "little hops as possible" in his beer. (I literally banged my head on the table.) He doesn't mind when such a beer has no real malt or hop flavour, just alcohol and water. It was, at least, clean, and nicely tapped.

It also turns out, he brews with 3 others together, in an old sausage kettle, 100L per batch. ~5.5% alcohol, amber with Münchener & Karamel, as little hops as possible. And they happen to be the Brauwatzl group that have been at the Annafest the last couple of years. That beer (brewed at Neder) is pretty damned decent.

Roppelt's hat am Freitag geöffnet, ja! Gerhard & Uschi were there with their own cooler of bottles, and explained that Herr Roppelt is "away" until Friday, so no Keller operation Wed & Thu. A group of 5 arrived by bus as I was leaving, and when they learnt that it wasn't open, they wondered about Lieberth @ Kreuzberg. I checked bierkeller.by, and sure enough, from *May*, it's open daily, but not now. But Friedel's and Rittmayer are, and so they hiked their way up (all your age, one lady with a cast on her foot and light crutches!).

Then I biked up, and found LIeberth to be open indeed, and the gal said she always opens when the weather's so nice. I explained about the big bierkeller.by webbie saying otherwise, but she didn't seem concerned. I told her I'd email them to tell them to correct their info. (Again, "meh".) Then I saw the group next door at Rittmayer (again, the Landbier only a tick less bland than the Lieberth...couldn't finish a Seidla), where they landed since they thought Lieberth's was closed. So Lieberth lost 5x beer & warmes Essen.

Lo and behold, Marcus himself of bierkeller.by fame showed up at Friedel (the new Smaragd hoppy blonde ale is quite bitter, too "rough" though, 2€ / 30 cl), and said he'd update the info: in nice weather, daily from 15.00. Friedel is also offering 3 bocks: whisky, cognac, and I-forget-what-else. Pass. The relatively interesting Frühlingsfestbier was still on, amber with Trappist yeast. I only had a couple of the Smaragd.
