New Ibis Hotel in Bamberg |

| There always was an Ibis brand as part of the chain - there was a budget version, Ibis was the middle range, plus a top one but can't remember the name. They've now been branded as Ibis Hotel, Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget. Ditto Fred's comment - the budget version at Charleroi Airport was the worst hotel that I've stayed in recent years (maybe there were a few worse in my hitch-hiking youth!). The room was miniscule, there was no food on offer and drinks only from a machine. When we came to use the free shuttle to the airport in the morning, the manager said we should have booked the night before, although there was nothing to indicate this. He refused to organise a shuttle, so we had a shouting match in the foyer, where I refused to move until a shuttle was provided. As this was interfering with checking out guests (and getting money), eventually he gave in with very bad grace. When we got in the bus, we were thanked profusely by some French guests who had received the same treatment but were too polite to complain! Maybe the aanswer was 'caveat emptor' and I certainly will next time - except that there won't be a next time. Incidentally, I sent a complaint but never received an answer. |
