Prettiest Franconian kellers (and breweries)

Roppelt's definately would be on my personal list.  Perhaps my favorite bier keller.

FAVORITE KELLERS:

Roppelt's - Stiebarlimbach - some think it's overrated.  I don't.  I think it's a beautiful setting and I find I can spend an entire day here.  In fact I have spent an entire day there and completely blew off going up to Kreuzberg.

Griess Keller - This year I'm going to get to sit there for more than one quick beer.

Schwanen Keller - Burgebrach - Was here with Jason's and his travelling mates Ronnie and Tony.  Jason left on his bike but us three enjoyed it so much we intentionally stayed past the time to catch the last bus back to Bamberg.  We figured we'd find a way back.  We did manage to get a taxi to come out and get us thanks to the help of a friendly bartender in Burgebrach.

Wettlesheim Keller - Got to visit this wonderful place thanks to Juergen and Elmar.  Great view overlooking the valley below and really nice beer.

There are so many kellers I haven't been able to visit yet so there is "work" to be done this July.

FAVORITE BREWERY SETTINGS:

These aren't necessarily my favorite beers (although some are) but these are some of the nicest places to drink I've been in Franconia.

1.  Golden Ochensenbrau - Spielbach - Thanks Juergen!  There was something I really loved about sitting outside at a picnic table across from a couple of barns and a John Deer tractor drinking that delicous beer.

2.  Brauerei Honig - Tiefellenern - Not one of my favorite beers (it's good enough) but one of the nicest beer gardens out in back of the brewery.

3.  Brauerei Schroll - Nankendorf - The ultimate in quaint village/quaint brewery setting and I loved the beer.

4.  Brauerei Leicht - Pferdsfeld - See #3 above.  Definately going back here in July.  Juergen?

5.  Penning Zeisler in Hetzelsdorf - Unfortunately was closed but thanks to Juergen's wrangling we got to at least sit in the beer garden and have a beer.  Very nice place.   July revisit also imminent.

Alt in Dietzhof also deserves mention.  So many places still yet to visit though.  In a coming year I need to just take an entire month off and spend it in Franconia.  This will happen.
