OT: arrived in Eschawo

And it looks exactly the same - same old porcelain factory, same Hauptstrasse, same nearly everything, except the previously empty shop at the bottom of our garden now appears to be occupied by several businesses, including a restaurant (not sure, as it was closed and dark).

Ok, so we arrived and settled in the Erdgeschoss, which is exactly as we left it 13 months ago - not sure if anyone has stayed in here since.  Feel very sad not see Charly's smiling face, he is much missed but his sister and brother-in-law gave us a great welcome.

Quick visit to Netto to stock up and then out for Zoigl.  First, stop, Weisse Schwann, a 'new' addition to the rota of Zoigl stub'n.  Careful sip of first Seidla, absolutely excellent!  Definltely a Robert Sperber special.  Halfway down the glass and who should arrive but Martin and Hermione Popp from Gloser - great to meet them so soon.  We exchanged greetings and then were updated on all happenings in Eschawo over the last year.  Well, not so much has happened or changed, a few old friends gone, etc. but everything much as before.

Martin confirmed what I surmised, in that WS has been added to the rota to boost the number of Zoigl stub'n, particularly during the summer months, when Posterer doesn't open so often as they have no garden.  Oh yes, and WS now has a smart canopy over the front garden space.  Not sure whether it improves the appearance but have to be nice about it as Martin did the glasswork!

Getting a bit tired after our 4 am start and long journey, so moved on to try Fiedlschneider.  Always been a bit iffy about F.  The inside is nice enough, as is the garden, and Herr K. is very friendly but the Zoigl is never really great.  And so it turned out last night.  A bit of a let down after WS.  Not sure just what it is: certainly too much added CO2 - they never seem to get it just right.  J. said that she thought that the beer tasted 'old' and I think that this was about right.  It just didn't taste really fresh.  Anyway, we'll try again to see if it improves.

Fell asleep watching Holland and Brazil!  Woke up this morning to find it raining - just as forecast - makes us feel at home, unfortunately.  The weather is supposed to pick up in the next couple of days and be pretty hot by the middle of the week.  Seems to have stopped, so we'll set out for Neuhaus and Lingl a bit later.

Zum Wohle!
