OT: Meeting in Kack'n |

We were sitting quietly enjoying our Zoigl in Kack'n last Sunday, when I noticed that the chap on the next table was consulting a well-thumbed copy of the 'Good Beer Guide to Germany'. So, I went over and introduced myself and he joined us at our table. Turned out to be Peter Strudwick from Nottinghamshire and a regular 'observer' of this Forum. Peter joined us later that night in Schlosshof, after taking up our recommendation to try Lizzy Weiss' food (which he enjoyed immensely - and the price!). We had a good long chat in which he told me that he had been coming to Franken and the Oberpfalz for many years and had visited all or most of the Franken breweries, including many since gone. Added to which, Kack'n was the last on his list of Zoigl breweries to visit. I was envious because he had visited Stern before it closed - we missed it by a year. Rumours still abound that it might re-open - but don't hold your breath. Peter, it was great to meet you and perhaps you would share some of your experiences with us now you have met one 'Forum-er' in person! Hope that you enjoy the rest of your holiday, especially the Annafest - who knows, our paths may cross again some day. |
