| For our final day yesterday the weather started out a bit crappy but we had it in our minds to go out and do one last countryside walk. I'm really glad we did because not only did the weather turn nice but the breweries we visited were excellent. Well two of them were anyhow. We thought the Fischer beer in Freudeneck just so so. However the beer in Hofen is my new favorite. It was superb. A local beer lover sat next to us and said it was one of his favorites and one of the few breweries in the region to still use fresh hops instead of extract. It sure tasted like it. Beer at Ebing was also very enjoyable. The walk itself was very easy to follow and mostly flat and very picturesque once through Rattlesdorf. Didn't bother to attempt going further to Mursbach but I'll do it again next visit. Also FYI the four breweries of that region are holding a small beer festival in Freudeneck on August 30th. They do this every two years. |
