| I had case of tonsilitis once while visiting Bamberg. I was staying at Frau Albert's in Judenstrasse and in her guest info binder she listed a doctor (and dentist). So I walked in one Monday morning. The Doctor saw me promptly (no patients waiting), took my pulse and temperature (the Dr. mind you, not a nurse) looked down my throat, felt my neck and ask if I had any allergies. Then gave me a prescription for antibiotics. We I went to leave, the office lady looked confused and had a long conversation with the Doctor that I could not follow. Then she went to the computer, typed and printed me up a bill. It was dreading looking at it -- but it was for €10. That is less than my co-pay at home so I didn't bother trying for re-imbursement :) I later examined the bill more closely -- he had charged me for a telephone consulation. My guess is that was the cheapest code in their system. |
