Kellersaison End
Posted by Nick B. on 2014-10-16 04:15:39
Now that I'm back today after nearly two weeks away, I see that Roppelt's Keller will be open today, but the Gaststätte tomorrow. This, to me, suggests that today will be the last day, meaning 1€ Seidla(s) and 2€ Mass(es), even less for regulars. I don't think I'll attend, feeling not up to it after 12 days of "camping", as well as having had a very lovely informal last day of the season there just before our trip.

But the Bockbierfest on the 25th, there I will be. Franz said he brewed the Bock the same as last year, just double the amount, and that it will be on draught from CO2 keg, not the 1000-litre beer-in-a-bag tank system. It was much, much better on draught than in the bottle...but that's just the same as the Kellerbier/Lagerbier. Of course, the bottled stuff is filtered and then presumably gassed-up with CO2.

Any other Kellersaison endings of note?

BTW, in case anyone's wondering, Franconia is indeed a paradise of Lager, compared to the bits of Austria, Italy, and Oberbayern that we spent time in on this last trip. Sheesh.
