The best iinformation about the Hörnla You can find (in German) here:
http://gaertnerstadt-bamberg.de/index.php/lokalsorten/rettich/15-lokalsorten/113-hoernla

They say that nobody knows exactly where this potatoe comes from.
Maybe from Belgium or the North of France.

In France they have the potatoe „La Ratte d´Ardeche" which looks similiar. But in Bamberg we say that the Ratte doesn't taste so good as the Hörnla.

Because the "Ratte" is cheaper and better available, it rumors that in some restaurants (outside of Bamberg) they use the Ratte instead of the Bamberg Hörnla. You can only see a difference of the skin. The Hörnla skin has a shimmer of red.

Maybe You can find the Ratte?
