Best of Bock...GO ***EARLY***
Posted by Gerhard Schoolmann on 2014-11-30 04:56:49
6th January, Dreikönigstag, day of the three kings is the usual last day for bock beers.
Some pubs offer a kind of drink out (so the Pelikan with bocks on gravity). Not so much visitors as at Best of Bock. On gravity in the biergarten also with snow and ice.

The next bock beer saison begins at the ashwednesday (46 days before Easter and so the calendar day is different each year). P.E. Mahrsbräu taps the "Weiße Bock", a dark wheat bock. Other breweries begin with a Josefi Bock (day of Joseph, 19th March).

In January, February some brewpubs have last bottles from the last season.
The Café Abseits tries to have bocks the whole year.  In January and February we will tap Schlenkerla Eiche, Weyermann Willy-Wonka-Bock and some specialities (maybe also strong beers) from Gänstaller and Weyermann. Maybe we get barrels from the last season. P.e. In the year 2012 an italian customer of Zehendner has delivered kegs of the xmas bock back to the brewery and I have tapped these barrels. (The bock has been better than fresh, so I have asked the brewery for transport the Weihnachtsbock over the Alpes each year (as a joke).

Some breweries offer their sping bocks (Maibocks) early.
