I always get better results with the re-usaged yeast, even if doing proper and careful rehydratation (sprinkle direclty into the wort really is not a good idea) and even if I use proper pitching rates (common homebrewers mistake: underpitching). 

Price of the packet starts to be important when doing "lagers" where you have to put 3 or 4 packets to ferment 25 liters...
