Well we can agree to disagree of course and I do completely disagree with the assertion (if this assertion is in fact being made) that "most" Franconian breweries are brewing "(severely muddled, unclean, paintlike yeast, husky and papery malt, DMS galore, apple-like, and curiously aimless)" beers.  Sorry IMO that's just plain false and the fact that a prominent contributor to Ratebeer thinks this way is to me yet another indication that Ratebeer is almost completely useles as a statistical tool to measure the quality of beer (as if we needed one in the first place).

Not that I haven't had crappy Franconian beers before.  I have.  I have poured a few out on the ground over the years or at least begrudginly drank them but just going through my mind how many that is the answer is I can count them on less than two hands and that's out of maybe a hundred or two different beers I've experience so far.

To each his own I guess.
