Tht is Xmas in England.  And, yes, the reverse always strikes me as strange when I'm in Germany, where religious holidays tend to be 'celebrated' for their original meaning, especially in Bayern.  However, conversely, it does seem a little odd to me that Weinachts Abend is the time when German people give out presents and have a celebratory feast.  But, then, I don't fully understand the psychology of German cultural and social life.
