| Visit completed. This is my report on the new VGN MobiCard: The MobiCard D zone, just as you suspected, did not cover all city bus destinations, only those within the city area, zone 1100. I you also wanted to go to Merkendorf in zone 1110 you have to pay for two zones. To go to Mühlendorf in zone 1105, the weekly ticket has to cover three zones. Even if you are only visiting two zones on the same trip. In addition to the MobiCard you need a Zonenkarte showing which numbered zones you are allowed to visit or transit. Very easy, or? I did not buy one. In zone D I walked, for other visits I just bought single tickets on the bus. For those who want to make visits to the outlying villages within three calendar days, the BAMBERGcard at 12 € is a good option. You buy it at the tourist office and it is valid on ALL city bus lines up to their last stop. It also includes a 2 hour walking tour of the city and free entrance to 7 museums. |
