| Interesting business idea. I recall in the dim and distant past, that the old UK brewery Davenports, from the West Midlands, had a similar service. One difference was that they also had a string of pubs round their base in Birmingham. Sadly, they were a victim of a Greenall's takeover and closed in 1987. The brand was later resurrected by Walsall-based Highgate Brewery, which, in turn, closed in 2010. I remember the Davenport's wagons delivering beer to homes in my home town of Manchester (around the Wythenshawe estate), probably in the 1950s and 60s. I also very vaguely recall visiting a Davenport's pub somewhere but the beer? Lost in the memory, I'm afraid. |
