| As a pub owner we have made the same changes as other restaurants and pubs: - reduced opening times and kitchen times, p.e. in the afternoon and in the late night - reduced working hours (maybe 2 waiters instead 3 at some times) - higher prices - reduced voluntary services to the staff. The minimum wage is very bad for several groups of workers and special branches: - The organic and other farmers with much manual work (asparagues, vegetables, fruits, strawberries, etc. that cannot harvest by machine. In the future we will get more poducts from east europe (or China). - disabled persons. We have in Germany many enterprises that try to integrate disabled persons. Some of them have to pay the minimum wage, but not all. - The workers who are on the "Waltz".(on the roll). It's an old tradition, that young craftsman go on tour, work for some days in different enterprises for board and logginig and for a tip. It isn't no longer allowed to offset the board and lodging with the minimum wage. - Caterer and also circusses and similiar seasonal enterprises have the problem, that they need sometimes workers for more than 10 hours per day and 48 hours a week. Now it isn't allowed ot offset works in the season with works off season. - Many communities, p.e. animal shelters, theaters, museums have to pay now the minimum wage also for young workers, who are working as managers of animals, waiters etc. They haven't money enough for these workers. Until now they have only get small wages. - Young people, also many students, who have worked as interns for some hundred Euro per month (average around 600 Euros), now have the right to earn the minimum wage of around 1.500 Euro per month (depending on the hours). The most of them will loose this possibilty to get a taste of the future work area. |
