| I also was not impressed with Drei Kronen in Memmelsdorf. Two of the beers there were undrinkable and undrinkable for me is pretty damn bad. For some reason I didn't like the Hohn beer at the keller either but that could have just been a bad batch since others have commented positively on it I'll have to try again. What can you say about Melkendorf? It just happens to be in the middle of a really great beer walk so I'll stop again I'm sure. I'm 6 for 6 at Griess. 2 times at Keller and 4 times at pub. Beer was good each time. I can understand why people mention the slight metallic taste though. I have noticed that but it didn't detract much at all from the beer IMO. Holzlein I agree with you about. I personally think the pub is a beauty and the beer garden is nice (although not as nice as Hoenig's) and the beer has always tasted very good to me including when I had it out of a barrel at a pub on Untere Sandstrasse a few years ago. I was pleasantly surprised with Krug in Geisfeld on that last walk we did. The second seidla went down even better than the first and I could have gladly stayed there longer if not for the nearby Griess keller calling out. Rossdorf beer - nothing great. I still remember going crazy over the Braunbier at the pub back in 2009. I thought is was great back then. Since then I think it's just okay and I was never really impressed with their lager but it's certainly drinkable and the keller is a must stop for me when open. I have not been to Knoblach yet and so need to get that on one of the next hikes after all the positive comments I've heard about it the last couple of years. Merkendorf - The best of the whole lot on this trail as I think everyone already knows and most probably agree. I still want to go to Hummel's Bierabend again ...... or maybe I should think twice about that? ..... nah I'll just be better prepared next time. The Maibock was so good and also the Kellerbier from the barrel. |
