| Sorry that you didn't like Koettensdorf. I didn't think it was exceptional but a nice and quite unusal dark Lagerbier. Understand about Goeller - it was very nice to have as a pub on our 'doorstep' (lovely friendly people etc.) but the beer is ordinary - I was only interested if you could sample the Maibock, as you probably walk past the place! Agree in general with your comments. I'm interested to read your opinion of Griess because it was exactly my view - a strange metallic taste (and not the friendliest of places). I now expect howls of disagrement from the Griess fans! Lohndorf was very disappointing - we wish we'd have gone straight to Hoenig, which is much nicer (both place and beer). We spent 4 weeks in Drosendorf and didn't go in Drei Kronen on any occasion. It is place that I really dislike - very pretensious and expensive, and the beer is ordinary. I like Hoehn - also a hotel/restaurant, but friendly. I like the Goerchla beer but know that others don't - it's a question of taste. Their Keller is pleasant without being outstanding. Follow the road Meedensdorf and Schammelsdorf and it is about 300 metres up the hill past the Rathaus. I preferred the beer in the pub, as it was less gassy, possibly as a result of adding CO2 to the Fass. We love Wagner - real character and lovely beer, even those not from BA. Hummel is also very nice, just prefer Wagner! |
