Jürgens beerfest beer - Oregon

Thanks chaps for your interesting explanation.  But when did cask conditioned beer start to disappear in the US - was it immediately after the end of prohibition or more recently - and did it happen all over the USA at the same or did it gradually 'creep' in?  Were there pockets of the country where c-c beer survived longer?

Yes, c-c beer is now a sort of British phenomenon but it might have been different if it hadn't been for CAMRA and the determination of a lot of people to keep their beer traditions alive.  I don't think people really realise what it was like through the 1960s and 70s as the big brewers tried to force keg beer on us, whilst buying up and closing down so many local breweries.  We were lucky in Manchester as the demand for real ale was so strong but in places as near as Sheffield and Liverpool, and in faraway London, it was really difficult to find real ale.  As for Scotland and Ireland...!!!
