| Mark has it right. There is some cask-conditioned ale about in the Pacific Northwest, including brewers who make it a primary thing (Machine House in Seattle, Brewers Union Local 180 in Oakridge OR, 44 miles SE of Eugene). CC ales are exceptions, not rules, making up a very tiny proportion of ale brewers' production in this part of the world. You can expand this to the whole of the English-speaking world, and if you do, you'll still find that CC ales are part and parcel of exactly one country's long-standing tradition. Anywhere else, CC ales are the exception, not the rule. |
