| Maybe the confusion is the existence of the Vollbier alongside the Lager/Kellerbier. Their own webbie has no descriptions, unfortunately, forcing one to rely on other sources like Ratebeer.com. Interesting to see our own 3Fourths's review there from the Schaufel Keller in the Forchheimer Kellerwald. I agree that the quality of the gravity-pour Löwenbräu there is excellent, but the idea that it's the Vollbier and not the Lager/Kellerbier...did Michael verify this in person? The Lager varies so much, that it's different every time I have it at the Keller, so why shouldn't it also vary at the Gaststätte? Meaning, the widely-spread story of two different beers (among locals, not just on the internet) could be a result of the beer always being different to that of the beer at the Keller. I would like to find out where the Vollbier is served and where the Kellerbier/Lager is served at other Löwenbräu outlets. |
