| Literal word-for-word translation: slaughter-bowl. In addition to Gerhard's informative explanation, I would say that I've always been told to get there early so you can maybe hope to get a bit of the nose, a rather prized bit o' pork. Never did get that myself. Some of Gerhard's other info is new to me. Being in England til Friday, I won't be able to call Roppelt's to see about their potential Schlachtschüssel for tomorrow. But he said he would put it on their webbie if they were going to do it. No Franconian beer sightings here in Kent, but I will post accordingly if any do turn up. Very nice Thursday & Friday (early) at the Kent Ale Festival, in a huge cow shed. Only one piece of hay got blown into my beer, too. Then I brought out my trusty Griess beer mats to use. |
