| Until 1993 it was not allowed to brew beers outside the following ranges: Einfachbier P 2,0 - 5,5 Schankbier P 7,0 - 8,0 Vollbier P 11,0 - 14,0 Starkbier P 16,0 and more An example: It was not allowed to brew a beer with 10.0 Plato. The reason: The measure of Plato is inaccurate. The law should prevent that the breweries brew a beer barely under the limit of a category to save taxes. After the reform it was allowed to brew beers in the previously forbidden gaps. So the defintion schanges, p.e. for Schankbar from 7 to 8 Plato to7.0 to 10.9 Plato. |
