| About "Vollbier": Until a reform of the German beer tax law in the year 1993 the beer tax depends on the category/class of beer (now You have to use a formula; the tax depends linearly on the strongness of the worth (Plato)). Until 1993 Vollbier was described as a beer from 11.0 bis 13.9 degree Plato. A Spezial or Märzen has 14 to 15.9 degree Plato. Bockbiere: 16 degree Plato and more. Doppelbockbiere: 18 degree Plato and more. Schankbiere: 7.0 to 10.9 degree Plato. Einfachbiere: under 7 degree Plato. Vollbier isn't a beer style! It can be a pale or dark laber, a Pilsner, a smoke beer, a wheat beer, a Schwarzbier, anything between 11 and 13.9 degree Plato. Some breweries use the name Vollbier until now, sometimes in combination with the name Hell (pale).or Schwarz Examples: Huppendorfeer Vollbier (an amber Lager), Heckel Vollbier Hell (a pale lager), Hölzlein Vollbier,Krachts Vollbier Schwarz Ratebeer shows You many examples if Your search for "Vollbier". Nowadays the breweries (and the customers) prefer names like Kellerbier or Landbier. These names are also more or less meaningless (say nothing of few about the beerstyle). An example is the MainSeidla Kelleribier (it's the not filtered version ot their "Original" and that is a Pils.). |
