| Talking of Banks' pubs, one of the weirdest pubs in the world is just outside Dudley and I'm sure a few of you will have heard of it, the Crooked House. It was built next to a mining site and used to slake the thirst of the workers until the mine shut. Since then the pub has subsided substantially and is now a bit of a tourist attraction. I recall feeling distinctly sick when walking around it, nothing makes sense, walls, ledges, bookshelves, hangings, tables and floors are all out of sync. You can put a marble on a table or ledge and it will roll 'uphill'. Very strange and bizzare place that messes with your head. I wouldn't go here for the beer, Banks' are ok but by all accounts not what they used to be, but I can't think on many pubs like this anywhere. |
