| We (Mrs & I) used to have a small "tradition": on the first nice day for a bike tour in spring, we would ride about 40 minutes from home, for a nice Seidla of Sauer Export in their small Biergarten, right at a bus stop for line 205, FWIW. The beer isn't that special, just a clean, pale Vollbier, probably filtered and gassed up with CO2. We haven't done that now for a couple of years, I think since we got our doggie. And in that time, they've renovated the Gaststätte adjacent to the brewery into a somewhat upscale restaurant. Upscale for Röttenbach, anyway. A young couple have taken it on, who have worked in restaurants in New Zealand and Canada, as well as elsewhere. The reviews at Tripadvisor are pretty good, and reflect what I've read in the paper about the place. Now I know most people here either don't want any food at all with their beer, or they want only cheap piles of basic pork, but I'm pretty excited about the place. We have just never thought of going there for dinner. But we'll have to now. Has anyone been there recently? We only stopped in the old Gastätte a couple of times, once to get beer to bring outside when the Biergarten wasn't open yet, and once on a Saturday evening bus crawl to Adelsdorf years ago, when the place was really dead and depressing and didn't inspire us back. |
