| Yes Andy, the Gasthof is part of a fairly large brewery owned by the Familie Wuerth but it is now closed. Somewhere on this Forum, you will find a report of our visit there about 5 years ago! A most dismal place, with no beer vom Fass (like Gambrinus Weiden in that respect but nowhere near as nice). Part of the brwery buildings are now occupied by an Italian restaurant (not tried). Wuerth beers are widely available in supermarkets but rumour has it that the brewery will close when the present owner dies, as there seems to be no one in the family interested in taking over (good business opportunity for willing Forum member?). The beers are not bad and include a Helles and a Dunkles Zoigl! Unfortunately for them, they are competing with the Zoiglstub'n. They previously had a bar in the Stadtplatz, which had been occupied by an Italian restaurant for the last few years but is now closed. Uncle Jimbo remembered that one! |
