OT: England again

On my trip to Thanet in July, I took the high-speed train into London for 32 quid with a return, which seemed quite a deal to me. Off-peak hours, yes, or it'd have been twice that, I suppose. We've eaten quite well for 10 - 15 pounds per meal in pubs with restaurants (not sure if they're quite "gastropubs" or not).

Thanet seems to be more reasonable than other bits of the south, with pints around 3, sometimes more, sometimes less. And if the Spoons ever gets built in Ramsgate, right on the beach, it will be the largest in the country, and I wonder what that will do to the other waterfront pubs. No dogs allowed inside though, so I wouldn't be *that* regular there.

(Surely Ramsgate must be the largest town in the land without a Wetherspoons?)
