If you come to Manchester, visit Stockport. There is an excellent covered market, which has a great cheese stall. They mainly specialise in local cheeses, including the fantastic Lancashire cheese, which is little known outside the area but that knocks spots off cheddar (or any German cheese!).  You can also drink as much Robbie's beer as you want!
