| I'm pretty sure there are walking paths along the Main-Donau Canal, however there are some areas where this gets a little interupted - check google maps. There is a better, cross country walk that goes up by the Kellers in Forchheim, up to Eggolsheim and onto Buttenheim, coming out at the St Georgen and Lowenbrau Kellers before the schnellbahn. But note that this is a road, albeit a country road. From Buttenheim, into Altendorf you can rejoin the Main Donau Canal walking paths up to Hirschaid. Another walking option is to get the train to Buttenheim and visit the breweries there, then walk to Dorsendorf (Brauerei Forst) and Wiegelshofen (Brauerei Pfister) before walking to Eggolsheim. It's a pleasant walk, very simple, and is just shy of 3 hours. You get then either walk or get a train to Hirschaid / back to Forchheim. |
