The late Tom Perrera used to offer to translate menus -- I was with him a couple of times in and around Düsseldorf. He didn't do it for cash but for a dinner or two and some swag for his kid -- t-shirt, cap or something.

If a place has an English menu I'm often offered it but always decline (or ask for the German if given the English) -- mainly because I often can't recognize the dishes in their translation smiley

Even my limited German traveling compations do this.
