Fränkisches Bierfest 2016

That would explain it.  We went to the Frankisches Bierfest in June and I couldn't imagine it would draw a big enough crowd to do that to hotel prices.  I imagine they moved it up to coincide with this trade show in hopes of drawing a bigger crowd.  We had a great time last year and hope to return one year.

Another hotel option in Bamberg is the Hotel Andres.  We stayed there the last two times we were in Bamberg.  It's not great, but is acceptable and IIRC correctly it's about 60 Euros per night including breakfast.
