Fränkisches Bierfest 2016 |

| I am planning to bring a party of beer "enthusiasts" over from England for the Fränkisches Bierfest at the end of May. At present there are around eight people interested, although it is possible one or two may drop out. I have noticed that many hotels in Nürnberg are either already booked up, or are charging very high room rates. These prices are far in excess of what I paid back in June, when I visited Fränkisches Bierfest 2015. I notice that the 2016 event has been brought forward a week so as to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot, so is this the reason for the high room rates? Because of these high prices I have been looking at places outside the city, such as Fürth or Erlangen, but I would also consider towns further afield such as Forchheim or even Bamberg. Anywhere really with good rail links into Nürnberg. Is there anywhere recommended that fits these criteria, or have I already left things too late? Many thanks, Paul Bailey, Kent, England. |
