Cask-conditioned vs KeyKeg

One thing I've forgotten to mention about Sam Smith's. Mr Humphrey Smith apparently acts as regional manager in the NW. A mate of mine and occasional lurker here, Peter, met him once in one of the pubs. Smith was on the phone apparently with another pub tracking down a spare microwave for the pub in question. The boss of that rather large company, there, doing that.

The pub had recently given up cask OBB for keg, and so Peter approached him and asked him about it. His policy is that if a pub doesn't shift an entire 36 gallon (imperial) hogshead cask per day, then it won't be allowed to offer cask any more. Why not use smaller casks? "We're a traditional Yorkshire brewery".
