| Another factor I failed to mention is taxation. I'm comparing prices of beer between New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Well there is not sales tax and no tax on alcohol (not much anyhow) in New Hampshire whereas in Mass. we have a 6.25% sales tax and over 4% per gallon tax on alcohol here. I'm not sure how local taxation works in the UK but I'm guessing it's a lot more unified than here in the US where you can have huge differences from state to state. I could ramble on about the differences between the USA and Europe in general but we really need an afternoon at a bier keller for that discussion. |
