I thought a polypin was a bag-in-a-box affair so that no air would enter during dispense. If that were the case, it seems to me it might well last longer than a regular cask. But I'm ignorant.

The 2-3 day rule though...I've had the chance to note the progress of a couple of 3.9% pale ales here. One on gravity dispense at the 39 Steps Ale House, and it was nicer on day 4 (!) than on day 2. And a pint of Ringmaster (Yorkshire beer, in Thanet!) was better yesterday, day 4 than on day 2. Or at least just as good. (Also gravity dispense at the absolutely lovely new little The Tap Room Ale House in Cliftonville.)

Also had a lovely pint of Tim Taylor's Boltmaker at the very well-renovated London Tavern in Margate (17 year old pub dog), unsparkled as nature intended. All these northern beers served the proper southern way...

Does anyone here know about Northdowne Ale from the 17th century? Doing a bit of free-time research for someone who seems obsessed with it.
