| A day early to 'celebrate' but weather looked lousy for Saturday and wanted to meet Juergen! So, how was the enlarged Bamberg T des B? Well, certainly much, much bigger but better? I don't think so. Of course, the great thing was a fine turn out of FFers and lovely to meet so many old faces and some new. But, really, the event has become overblown - as Frank said, like the Oktoberfest. Gone was the nice little beer Ausschank, with all breweries serving BA, to be replaced by a line of keggy taps, like some gigantic keg craft pub. I started, as per tradition, with 'a U' from Mahrs and it was pretty ordinary - and that's being complementary. The Grafenklau Zwickel was OK, while the Special U wasn't nearly as good as in the Stub'e. To be fair, Schlenkerla made an effort, serving BA, and the Maerzen was up to scratch - well done. Maybe the best summary of the beer was the number of people drinking the Kaiserdom, even our chaps, but the Schwarzbeer was one of the more interesting on offer. After fond farewells, we headed back to Buttenheim and Loewenbrau, where the Kellerbier was much superior and a Euro cheaper! Met 5 brothers from Koblenz who were on a beer Wandern and had a good bit of crack - it's a really friendly place, the landlord finding seats for us so I could watch the footie. Sorry not to have made it up for the big day but Mark and co's photo's show it to rather wet and cold, and got to look after these old bones!
