Helles/landbier's in the city of Bamberg? |

| The good news is that you don't have to leave the city to be able to drink some of the beer from the sorrounding countryside. There are a few different pubs you could visit in the city like Cafe Abseits (they will have a variety of beers of that style that you may enjoy), Stohrenkeller (they often have the Witzgall Landbier on tap - at least the last two times I was there), Zapfhahn will usually have the Hell bier from Brauerei Sonne in Bischberg, beers from Brauerei Krug of Breitenslau at Weinstube Pizzini, Monschsambacher Lagerbier at Rotenschild on Obere Sandstrasse, etc. For other breweries in the city you might try the Ungespundet Lager from Brauerei Spezial. I would also recommend that you trek up to Brauerei Greifenklau for their lagerbier. You may have been spoiled by the Helles at Mahrs which I also really like. But get out and explore not just the other breweries of Bamberg but the various pubs that serve some interesting beers. Worst case scenario is you can always return to Mahrs and drink more there. |
