| Okay, after we get through the Hallerndorf Biertage, the following week, on Sunday the 11th, is the 16th edition of the Jura-Biertag (who knew?). Taking place in Grossziegenfeld (5 km east from Wattendorf or about the same distance north from the autobahn 70 Stadelhofen exit), it promises representation from 6 breweries: The two Wattendorf (Dremel and Hübner), Grassner from Huppendorf, another Hübner, this the one in Steinfeld, Brauerei Will in Schederndorf and, finally, the large Weismain brewery, Püls. It will run from 1200 to 2300 and promises to be a fairly relaxed affair. It is run by the local volunteer fire department and last year the talk was about a schnitzel sandwich and pizza (coffee and cake as well, of course). Perhaps a little tricky to get to be public transportation and not exactly next door to Bamberg if driving, though distance and timewise, not much different than going to Hallerndorf. For anyone considering going, my personal tip for food would be Gasthof Zöllner in Kleinziegenfeld. The food here is always great and, unfortunately, I don't get out there as often as I should. Do not try to eat here on a Sunday, particularly at noontime, without a reservation. One might get lucky but.... |
