Normally, the braurecht belongs to householders whose dwelling is situated within a certain area, usually it is the area of the medieval town boundary. It belongs to anyone who lives in that dwelling. So, if you bought a house within that area, you would have the right to use the brewery. However, for example, in Eschawo, braurecht has been given to houses outside the boundary because of the need to maintain the number of brewers.
