Yeah, I didn't think of asking about the opening time. I suspect it's just that these people work during the week already, and then to run the fest for 12 hours all weekend would just be too much. And it hadn't gotten even 1/3 full by the time I left at 18.00, so there just might not be enough business to make it worthwhile.

No, you buy the glass and they won't serve you in anything but that glass. They give you  a clean one when you go get a re-fill, but you have to buy one at one of the brewery stands.

It's a silly little mini-Pils glass, branded for the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot,  basically useless for any other purpose than tasting or drinking 330 ml servings. At CAMRA fests, you pay a deposit for a glass, so you can get your money back, which is what we three were whinging about. I just left my glass there, maybe somebody got to use it and save 3€.
